A unofficial history of the
CHEYENNE REGULATORS
as remembered by those who were there.
One Saturday, over a decade ago, some cowboy shooters from
Cheyenne were at the "Pawnee Station Cowboy Shoot" down Colorado way, one
of the cowboys said to another "We need to get a cowboy shoot'n club started up
in Cheyenne." The other
cowboy said, "OK let's do it." Then both cowboys turned drew their
pistols, rang some more steel and made some more smoke!!! This short
conversation was the beginning of what was to become the Cheyenne Regulators
Inc. cowboy action shooting club. The spark was struck, the flame ignited and
the Wyoming wind fanned the flames. I know this story is true cause I was there.

What I am trying to do here, is to follow the long, winding and often bumpy, road the Cheyenne Regulators have traveled. Along the way we'll throw out little tidbits of information so we came find our way back. What you see written here may change from time to time as I get feedback from others who were there.
There are some who do not like that I am writing this, let me give you my assurance that you will find nothing derogatory on these pages about the club or its members and no names will appear without permission. What you will find is a chronological history of Cheyenne Regulators from conception. Am I qualified to write this? Although I could set down a resume of my qualifications I will not do so unless asked, the fact that I've been an active member from the beginning and have no intention of bring harm to this organization should be qualification enough. Those who wish to know what is currently happening within the Cheyenne Regulators should attend their meeting, read their newsletter or visit the Cheyenne Regulators home page at www.cheyenneregulators.org. Now lets get on with the story.
The story really begins at the Pawnee Station Cowboy Shoots, which were at that time held on the upper range of the Northern Colorado Rod and Gun Club and I'm here to tell you there were a lot of folks there having a lot of fun. The first cowboy shoot I ever attended was there and I was hooked from the word go. Having shot competitively on and off for years I was more than a little nervous stepping into a new sport, that didn't last long, the people just made you feel welcome. At that first match I recognized one shooter from Cheyenne who would soon become one of the people who got the Cheyenne Regulators off the ground.
